Reading Bakery Systems designs and builds high-volume production systems for snacks and baked goods (pretzels, crackers, cookies, chips, and more) through brands including Thomas L. Green, Exact Mixing, and Reading Pretzel. Part of Markel Food Group, RBS supports manufacturers around the world, backed by its own Science & Innovation Center.
What we built
Decades of knowledge about how RBS equipment is built, serviced, and repaired lived with a small group of senior experts, spread across manuals, drawings, service reports, and memory. When an issue came up, technicians had to track down the one person who knew.
Orpical began with Discovery, mapping how that knowledge moves through the organization today and building the business case for change. From there we designed and built an AI knowledge capture and technician enablement platform. Technicians ask questions in plain language and get step-by-step answers drawn from structured issue records (symptom, cause, fix), with the source behind every answer. Subject matter experts review, approve, and version that knowledge before it’s published, so technicians can trust what they read, and every solved problem makes the system stronger.
The result is a living, expert-validated knowledge base that keeps hard-won expertise inside the company and gets new technicians productive faster.
